3 out of 4 Teams went into the break with a win!

The High School Boys Basketball  team competed against Wendell on Tuesday, December 20th.  Wendell was too much to overcome for the JV boys.  The varsity came away with a come from behind win to beat the Trojans by 8 pts.
The Girl's teams both started their holiday break Wednesday, December 21st with wins!  The JV girls lead most of the night and finished the game with a 2 point win.  The Varsity team did not have much trouble with Oakley winning  by 20 points.   The ball was falling in the hoop and defense was too much for the Hornets.

What Should an Athlete Eat?

Hey, Shoshone Athlete’s ever wondered what you should eat before a big competition.  Well here is some advice.  Get rid of the sugar foods and start fueling your body with complex carbohydrates.
Eating sugar before a game will cause you the athlete to lose energy as the game progresses.  Of course the sugar at the beginning of the game will give you energy, but it will be gone before the start of the 2nd quarter.  Athletes need to eat a meal rich in complex carbohydrates one hour or two before the game.  Now I’m not talking about a big plate of spaghetti, eat that the night before.  I’m saying keep it light.  By doing this it will allow you the athlete to have energy throughout the entire game.
Some good choices of complex carbohydrates are:
·         Pasta
·         Cereal
·         Vegetables
·         Peanut Butter
·         Bread
One of the most important things to remember is to stay hydrated during and after the game.
