Concussions

Every year, athletes across the country participating in extra curricular events sustain  concussions.  Therefore, all Shoshone School District coaches are required to take a course specifically on Concussion Education.  Our  philosophy is in line with the Idaho High School Activities Association (IHSAA)

Concussions are a type of brain injury that can range from mild to severe and can disrupt the way the brain normally works. Concussions can occur in any organized or unorganized sport or recreational activity and can result from a fall or from players colliding with each other, the ground, or with obstacles. Concussions occur with or without loss or consciousness but the vast majority occur without loss of consciousness.

Further information can be found at the IHSAA website.  http://www.idhsaa.org/concussions/default.asp

JV Boys Basketball

Coming off the break, the Huskies were just too much for the JV team.  Coach Taber stated he could not have been proud of the effort of the young men even though the lose was tough.   Then they traveled to Gooding and the Senator pressure was intense beating the Indians.
The Indians got back into the win column in Hagerman.  The boys came from a 14-2 come from behind and beat the Pirates by 4 points.

GREAT JOB GUYS!!!

High Girls Basketball

The Varsity Team came back from the Holiday break with a win beating Hansen.  Then traveled to Oakley and had a close game going into the half  but scored 28 points in the 3rd quarter to win the game comfortably.  Then on the 10th, they travel to Hagerman and had a  tough lose to the Pirates. The game  was evenly match at the line, each team scored 4 free throws, same number of 2 point goals but Hagerman made only one more 3 point goal.  In turn, pirates win by 3 :(

The JV Team has won 2 out 3 games returning from break.  The Hansen Huskies fell to the Lady Indians by 15 points.  When the Indians got on the floor in Oakley it seemed nothing would their way.  Only scoring 3 field goals and less than 45% from the free throw line.  However, they battled the Hornet only losing by 2.  The girls bounced back from the lose in Hagerman, beating the Pirate by 16 with the pressure the half court trap.
